Statement from Bentham IMF about Congressional Inquiry into Commercial Litigation Funding
Bentham welcomes the inquiry from Senators Grassley and Cornyn. We plan to provide all information necessary to help Congress and the American people better understand our business.
Commercial litigation funding is relatively new to the United States, but has a proven track record in other Western judicial systems. It levels the playing field in commercial disputes and provides access to justice for parties without the economic means to pursue valid claims.
We are proud of our record in working with leading law firms, along with individuals and small and medium-sized businesses to help fund a wide variety of meritorious cases. We look forward to working with the Committee to explain how commercial litigation funding serves the legal profession, clients and the American civil justice system.
