Allison Chock Selected to Speak to the ABTL Northern California Chapter About Litigation Finance
Back by popular demand, the program “Show Me the Money: How Litigation Funding Changes the Playing Field for Business Litigation” will take place on January 19, 2016 at The Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, California from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This program was first given during the ABTL Annual Seminar in October 2015 and piqued the interest of many. As the panelists only had an hour to discuss litigation finance -what it is and how it works - the upcoming seminar at The Four Seasons will continue the discussion as well as introduce the topic of litigation funding to those that were unable to attend the Annual Seminar.
A majority of the original panelists will take the stage for this litigation finance pow wow. Participating on the panel along with Bentham’s Allison Chock are: Peter Benzian of Burford Capital, Alameda Superior Court Judge Robert B. Freedman, retired California Superior Court Judge James P. Kleinberg, and Boaz Weinstein from Lake Whillans. Some topics to be discussed are how litigation funding changes the dynamics of litigation, ranging from the behavior between businesses to a lawyer’s approach to litigation strategy. Judge Kleinberg and Judge Freedman will give their thoughts from the perspective of the bench as to whether litigation finance makes an impact on discovery, ethical and evidentiary issues.
If you missed this program the first time, take this opportunity to learn about litigation finance from a distinguished panel of funders and members of the judiciary. For more information or to register for this event, please visit the ABTL Northern California website.
