Litigation Funding Proves Hot Topic at Seattle IP Inn of Court Event

On September 15, 2016, Matthew Harrison, Investment Manager and Legal Counsel in Bentham’s San Francisco office, participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Seattle IP Inn of Court that focused on the “Financial Aspects of Intellectual Property Litigation.” The panel was moderated by Duncan Macfarlane (Macfarlane Law) and included, Paul Leuzzi (Weyerhauser Company), Stephen McGrath (T-Mobile, USA Inc.), and John Vandenberg (Klarquist Sparkman LLP). While the discussion was intended as a general exploration of alternative fee arrangements (AFAs), audience interest in litigation finance led the panelists to provide detailed explanation about the ethics of litigation funding and how litigation finance operates as an alternative to AFAs.
