Ruth Stackpool-Moore is the global head of Omni Bridgeway’s international arbitration business – ranked Band 1 in Chambers for international arbitration funding since 2020 – overseeing Omni Bridgeway’s portfolio of international commercial and investor-state arbitration investments worldwide. She also leads Omni Bridgeway’s investment portfolio in Asia which has been ranked Band 1 in Chambers for regional litigation funding since 2021. In her role as Portfolio Manager Ruth works closely with Investment Managers from Omni Bridgeway’s global network to originate, assess and manage funded cases with a focus on arbitration (commercial and investor state) in Asia and globally as well as litigation and insolvency claims in Asia. Ruth also assists in the development and execution of strategic company initiatives in the APAC region.
One of the first to set up and manage local operations for a global dispute funder in Asia, Ruth has been commercially assessing dispute prospects and funding cases in civil and common law jurisdictions in Asia, and globally, since 2015, founding her recognition in Chambers as “an experienced operator in the funding market.” She has also worked extensively during that time to develop regional market appetite for third party funding and supportive political and legislative frameworks in key Asian jurisdictions.
Applauded for her “brilliant legal and commercial mind,” funded clients comment that she is “very innovative and entrepreneurial” and note specifically the strength of her client service, commercial awareness and ability to handle complex and sophisticated matters. Her market leadership has been recognised in the Lawdragon Global 100 Leaders in Legal Finance Guide since 2021 and Who’s Who Legal Thought Leaders Third-Party Funding since 2020, she has also been a Band 1 ranked individual in Chambers for litigation funding since 2022.
Prior to joining the dispute finance market Ruth practiced as a cross-border international dispute resolution lawyer (Australian and UK-qualified) at leading global law firms Coudert Brothers, Orrick and Debevoise & Plimpton in various jurisdictions including London, Paris and Sydney where she has represented multinational organisations in, acted as tribunal secretary for and reviewed from a commercial and legal standpoint complex cross-border matters throughout Asia Pacific, Europe, USA and the Middle East in a variety of sectors including defence, telecommunications, construction, media, pharmaceuticals and natural resources. She also spent several years as Managing Counsel at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre where she led the Centre’s arbitration team.
Ruth holds Bachelor's degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Sydney, Australia. She is a frequent speaker and author on third party funding as well as other arbitration-related issues and is recognised in Chambers and Partners Litigation Support 2022 - 2025 Guides, Lawdragon Global 100 Leaders in Legal Finance Guides 2021-2025 and Who’s Who Legal Thought Leaders Third-Party Funding 2020-2025 Guides.
