C. Austin (“Austin”) Ginnings is Legal Counsel in Omni Bridgeway’s New York office, where he conducts due diligence on potential investments and provides legal advice to the company on matters of US law.
Austin possesses substantial experience in patent law, having looked at it through different lenses over the course of his career. Prior to joining Omni Bridgeway, Austin held a management role at an IP-focused investment and advisory firm, focusing on sourcing and assessing IP-centric litigation and other investment opportunities. Before entering the litigation finance industry, Austin practiced law at elite intellectual property firms Desmarais LLP and Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto. He represented plaintiffs and defendants in patent infringement cases, including matters handled on a contingency fee basis. He also advised technology, life sciences and medical device companies on offensive and defensive patent portfolio strategies and IP portfolio development. Earlier in his career, Austin worked with the United States International Trade Commission addressing issues regarding IP and international trade disputes. He began his career as a technical advisor/patent agent for Baker Botts, LLP, prosecuting patent applications for biotechnology and energy clients and assisting with patent litigations.
Austin earned his J.D. with honors from The George Washington University Law School and his B.S. in Bioengineering from Rice University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
