Laura Scheim
MontrealAssociate Investment Manager and Legal Counsel
Laura Scheim is an Associate Investment Manager and Legal Counsel in Omni Bridgeway's Montreal office.
Laura's expertise assessing the merits of litigation and providing strategic input throughout the litigation process is founded on experience gained as a litigator practicing commercial, civil and tax litigation in the Montreal office of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. In that role, Laura appeared as counsel before administrative tribunals, arbitrators, as well as provincial and federal courts, including the Federal Court of Appeal. The broad scope of her litigation experience, and particularly her background in tax litigation, provides a valuable resource for determining the strength of funding opportunities involving complex commercial litigation.
Laura clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Michael J. Moldaver and at the Quebec Court of Appeal for Justice Allan R. Hilton. She holds a First Class Honours B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from McGill University, and a MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics with a focus on international law. She earned her B.C.L. and LL.B. degrees from McGill University, where she graduated on the Dean's Honour Roll and was awarded the Louis H. Rohrlick Memorial Prize for highest standing in public international law.
Laura is a member of The Advocates Society, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and the International Fiscal Association and has completed CPA Canada's CICA In-Depth Tax Program.
