Investment Manager, Director DARP

Mateen Beg is responsible for the work-out and legal recovery of nonperforming bank loans in the MENA region, under the umbrella of the Distressed Asset Recovery Program (DARP) which Omni Bridgeway manages in conjunction with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Mateen’s primary responsibility is developing relationships with banks and law firms in the MENA region for the successful implementation of DARP.

Before joining Omni Bridgeway, he was CEO of Axys Corporate Advisory where he was pivotal in facilitating the joint venture between Omni Bridgeway and International Finance Corporation (‘IFC’) as part of the Distressed Asset Recovery Program (‘DARP’). Mateen has worked with various global financial institutions, including KPMG for five years, Deutsche Bank for three years, and ABN AMRO for six years, focusing – inter alia – on private equity, corporate finance advisory and restructuring. 

Mateen has been a resident in the UAE for the past 14 years. He is a Chartered Accountant with a Masters in Finance and Economics from University of Dundee and an LLM in Dispute Resolution and Arbitration.

He speaks fluent English, Hindi and Urdu, and understands Arabic.
