Matt Leland
Washington D.C.Investment Manager and Legal Counsel
Matt Leland is an Investment Manager and Legal Counsel in Omni Bridgeway’s Washington D.C. office, where he manages all facets of the litigation funding lifecycle for commercial disputes.
Matt sources and evaluates potential funding opportunities, negotiates deal terms with claimants and counsel, provides analysis and recommendation of matters to the Investment Committee, and monitors funded matters through to resolution.
With close to two decades of experience, Matt is a recognized commercial litigator with accolades from several peer-reviewed guides, including The Best Lawyers in America, Legal 500, and Super Lawyers. Before joining Omni Bridgeway, Matt was a partner at King & Spalding LLP and McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where he successfully litigated diverse legal issues for corporate plaintiffs and defendants in the energy, manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and construction industries. Matt helped clients recover substantial damages in many of his cases, which often involved contract and commercial disputes, government reimbursement claims, unfair business practices, civil RICO, protection of trade secrets, and trademark infringement.
Matt received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was the Publications Director for The Tax Lawyer and The State and Local Tax Lawyer. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire.
In addition to his professional work, Matt is an active volunteer supporting individuals with disabilities. He is the former President of The Arc of Northern Virginia, a local chapter of one of the largest organizations assisting and advocating for individuals with disabilities and is a long-serving member of its Board of Directors. Matt also serves his local community as a member of the Arlington (Virginia) Special Education Advisory Committee.
