Mara Abols is Corporate Counsel-Canada for Omni Bridgeway and is based in the company’s Toronto office.

Mara works with the company’s global Legal, Risk & Compliance team with a focus on handling various corporate legal issues as well as structuring, negotiating and advising on litigation funding agreements concerning Canadian investments. She is a seasoned corporate and transactional lawyer with experience negotiating term sheets, non-disclosure agreements and other contracts, as well as managing transactions involving complex financing structures, loans, capital markets financings, structured finance, acquisition financings, refinancings, mergers, bankruptcies, workouts and restructurings.
 
Prior to joining Omni Bridgeway, Mara was General Counsel and Vice President of Burnham Sterling & Company LLC, an investment bank. Earlier in her career, Mara practiced law with global law firms White & Case LLP and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. She was a Student-at-Law with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP. Mara completed internships with Bech-Bruun, a large Danish law firm, the Embassy of Canada to Denmark, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris, the Mission of Canada to the European Union in Brussels and the European Commission in Brussels. 
 
She holds an LL.B. and B.C.L. from McGill University, where she graduated with distinction and participated in an International Exchange with the University of Copenhagen. Mara also holds a Master of European Studies-Human Resources Development from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium and a B.Sc.H. in Biology & Psychology from Queen’s University at Kingston.  
 
Mara is a member of the bar in both Ontario and New York.
