Chicago

Investment Manager and Legal Counsel

Maryanne C. Woo heads the Chicago office of Omni Bridgeway, where she leverages her complex litigation expertise to drive the litigation finance process—including sourcing, evaluating, and monitoring commercial investments and managing legal and financial risks for claimants, law firms, and corporations.

As head of the Chicago office, Maryanne spearheads the company’s expansion into one of the largest and most diversified legal markets in the country.

Maryanne brings over two decades of experience as a trial attorney, where she litigated an array of complex disputes in both state and federal courts. Prior to joining Omni Bridgeway, she was a partner at Reed Smith LLP where she focused on a range of product liability matters involving multi-district litigation, pharmaceutical and medical devices, and mass tort lawsuits. Maryanne is deeply committed to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, having served as the Chicago Market Chair to Reed Smith’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for sixteen years. In addition, she served on the Executive Committee for the Board of Directors for the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms.

She received her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a Managing Editor of the Columbia Journal of Law & Social Problems. Following law school, Maryanne clerked for The Honorable John W. Reynolds of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. She obtained her B.A., magna cum laude, in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University.

Outside of her professional work, Maryanne is also a former board member of the Farther Foundation – an organization providing scholarships for economically disadvantaged high school students in the Chicago area, which provided them with the opportunity to participate in international educational travel experiences.
