On Monday, May 11, 2015, the American Bar Association Section of Litigation’s Class Action and Derivative Suits Committee and its Securities Litigation Committee will host a program at the New York City office of Baker & McKenzie LLP entitled “The Globalization of Securities Litigation.”   This program will discuss the current status of shareholder rights’ litigation in Canada, Brazil, England, The Netherlands, and the United States, and how those laws are currently enforced via class and collective actions.  Some of the matters up for discussion and debate include BP plc, Petrobras Brasileiro S.A., Royal Bank of Scotland plc, Tesco plc, and others.

Bentham’s Senior Investment Manager Jim Batson will be presenting an introduction about third-party funding, how it works, and will provide examples of how alternative litigation finance may be a resource for parties litigating securities actions.   More information or registration for this educational program can be found here
