Matt Harrison Invited to Speak at the Northern District of California Judicial Conference
Investment Manager Matt Harrison will participate in a panel presentation at the Northern District of California Judicial Conference on April 8-10, 2016 at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California. This conference is by invitation only and typically draws a majority of the Northern District’s judges, in addition to approximately 150 attorneys active in the federal bar.
The presentation titled “Show Me the Money: Does Litigation Funding Change the Playing Field for Litigation?” will occur on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. It will be moderated by The Honorable Jon Tigar, U.S. District Judge, N.D. of California. In addition to Matt, those slated to appear on this panel are: John Beisner, Partner at Skadden Arps; Peter Benzian, Managing Partner of Burford Capital; Timothy Scott, Partner at King & Spalding; and Boaz Weinstein, Partner at Lake Whillans.
This well-balanced panel will offer various perspectives on the use of litigation finance as it includes voices from funders, users of funding, as well as a critic of such funding. Among the topics to be discussed is how the litigation finance industry created alternative ways to finance a case through trial.
