Omni Bridgeway expands its investment team in Canada with Laura Scheim
Legal finance company Omni Bridgeway is expanding its Canadian operations with the hire of Laura Scheim as associate investment manager and legal counsel. Based in our Montreal office, Laura brings expertise in commercial and tax litigation, and a background that includes clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada and the Quebec Court of Appeal.
Before joining Omni Bridgeway, Laura practiced with the top ranked litigation group at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. She adds to our strong investment team in Canada comprised of Paul Rand and Nick Tzoulas who joined Omni Bridgeway from Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, Naomi Loewith who joined from Lenczner Slaght LLP, Geoff Moysa who joined from McMillan LLP, Pierre-Jerome Bouchard who joined from McCarthy Tétrault LLP, Annie Lesperance who joined from Cabinet Yves Fortier and George Hendy, formerly head of litigation at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Montreal, who serves as Senior Advisor in Quebec.
Laura will assist the Canadian team in responding to the continued growth in demand for corporate and commercial litigation funding and growing interest in legal finance management. With nearly a decade of sophisticated litigation experience and top-flight academic credentials, Laura is well positioned to help Omni Bridgeway assess and manage the funding of meritorious claims.
Laura has two law degrees and an undergraduate degree from McGill, and a MSc in Human Rights with a focus on international law from the London School of Economics. Before entering legal practice, Laura clerked for Justice Moldaver of the Supreme Court of Canada and Justice Hilton of the Quebec Court of Appeal. Laura is fluent in English, French and Hebrew.

Basée à notre bureau de Montréal, Laura apportera son expertise en matière de litige commercial et fiscal, ainsi qu'une expérience qui comprend notamment un stage à la Cour suprême du Canada et à la Cour d'appel du Québec.
Avant de se joindre à Omni Bridgeway, Laura a exercé au sein du groupe de litige le mieux classé chez Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. Elle vient s’ajouter à notre solide équipe d'investissement au Canada composée de Paul Rand et Nick Tzoulas qui ont rejoint Omni Bridgeway après avoir pratiqué chez Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, Naomi Loewith qui a rejoint Omni Bridgeway après avoir pratiqué chez Lenczner Slaght LLP, Geoff Moysa qui a rejoint Omni Bridgeway après avoir pratiqué chez McMillan LLP, Pierre-Jérôme Bouchard qui a rejoint Omni Bridgeway après avoir pratiqué chez McCarthy Tetrault LLP, Annie Lespérance qui a rejoint Omni Bridgeway après avoir pratiqué au sein du cabinet Yves Fortier et George Hendy, ancien chef du département de litige chez Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP à Montréal, qui agit à titre de conseiller principal pour Omni Bridgeway au Québec.
Laura aidera l'équipe canadienne à répondre à la croissance continue de la demande de financement de litiges corporatifs et commerciaux et à l'intérêt croissant pour la gestion du financement de litiges. Avec près d'une décennie d'expérience dans le domaine de litiges complexes et des diplômes universitaires de haut niveau, Laura est bien positionnée pour aider Omni Bridgeway à évaluer et à gérer le financement de réclamations méritoires.
Laura est titulaire de diplômes en droit et d’un diplôme de premier cycle de l’Université McGill, ainsi que d'une maîtrise en droits de la personne avec une spécialisation en droit international de la London School of Economics. Avant d'entrer dans la pratique juridique, Laura a été stagiaire auprès du juge Moldaver de la Cour suprême du Canada et du juge Hilton de la Cour d'appel du Québec. Laura parle couramment l'anglais, le français et l'hébreu.
